Running safely

Running safely is a key consideration. In the UK, the weather is improving and the lighter nights are just around the corner. People have started to relax a little after a long winter.

But don’t let that relaxation invade your running, (well not too much anyway..)

Running can be a dangerous activity. Uneven pavements & road surfaces, icy conditions, grease and road grime can all cause you to lose footing.

That’s before we get to things that can move.

Other runners, children on bikes, adults on bikes (struggling to keep them upright and balanced), wheelchairs, pushchairs, dogs with long extension leads, dogs bouncing around with no lead on are just a few things that can cause problems.

Usually followed by the “Sorry mate” response from the owner or parent

But that’s not all

What about more sinister things?

Mad motorists, motorcycles where they shouldn’t be, trip wires laid by mischievous kids etc

What can you do?

Well tomorrow, we will be publishing our guide to running safely but in the meantime, think about your safety routine and how vulnerable you might be?
